Compress video for a text message (MMS)

Picture messages have tiny limits: AT&T and T-Mobile allow about 1 MB, Verizon a bit more. This preset makes a clip under 1 MB that goes through everywhere.

Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

What fits into 1 MB

1 MB is about 20–30 seconds of small (240p–360p) video with sound. The preset lowers the resolution automatically to keep the picture readable. If your clip is longer, trim it first or send a link instead.

Carrier limits (approximate)

The recipient’s carrier can also reject or shrink large messages, so 1 MB is the safe choice.

Questions

Why does my phone say the video is too large to send?

MMS has strict size limits set by the carrier — often just 1 MB. Compress the video below that first.

Does iMessage have the same limit?

No — iMessage and RCS chats allow much larger files. The MMS limit applies to plain text messages.
